We don't collect, store, or process any of your personal data or documents.
No Server Upload
All processing happens in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
No Tracking
We don't use cookies, analytics, or any tracking technologies.
Open Source
Our code is transparent and auditable on GitHub.
Personal Information: We do not collect any personal information. Word2Markdown does not require registration, login, or any form of user identification.
Document Content: Your documents are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. We never receive, store, or have access to your document content.
Usage Analytics: We do not use any analytics services, tracking pixels, or cookies to monitor your usage of Word2Markdown.
Client-Side Processing: All document conversion happens locally in your browser. The conversion process uses:
- JavaScript libraries (Mammoth.js for Word parsing, Turndown for Markdown conversion)
- WebAssembly for performance optimization
- Local browser storage (temporarily, only during conversion)
No Network Transmission: Your documents are never transmitted over the internet during the conversion process.
No Server Storage: We do not store any user data on our servers. Word2Markdown is a static website hosted on Vercel's CDN.
Local Storage: Your browser may temporarily store document data in memory during the conversion process. This data is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab or navigate away.
No Persistent Storage: We do not use localStorage, sessionStorage, or any other persistent storage mechanisms.
Hosting: Word2Markdown is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, user agents, etc.) as part of their hosting service. Please refer to Vercel's Privacy Policy for more information.
CDN: Static assets are served through Vercel's global CDN for performance. No additional tracking or data collection occurs.
HTTPS Encryption: All connections to Word2Markdown are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
No Attack Surface: Since we don't collect or store data, there's no user data that could be compromised in a security breach.
Open Source: Our code is publicly available for security audits and transparency.
Since we don't collect personal data, traditional data protection rights (access, rectification, erasure, etc.) don't apply. However, you have:
- Complete control over your documents (they never leave your device)
- The right to use Word2Markdown without providing any personal information
- The ability to use the service completely offline
